Remember the news last summer at D23 that caused a stir of excitement? That Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going under a huge expansion to accommodate two new areas, Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land? Well, now comes the hard part: closing several beloved attractions this spring to make way for the new expansion.
What’s Closing…
It was announced today here that Hollywood Studios will soon be saying goodbye to the following attractions:
- Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure
- Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
- Monsters Inc. meet and greet
- Studio Catering Co.
- Earful Tower
The first four are slated to close April 2nd, but a date for Earful Tower has yet to be announced. Maybe the removal of the tower will be a slow dismantling, similar to the removal of the huge sorcerer’s hat? That took months for it’s break down, so Earful Tower may well take some time as it is a very large structure.
We know that in order to gain the new Star Wars and Toy Story lands it will take sacrifice in the form of losing certain attractions, but our hearts are feeling rather glum at the thought of losing Mike, Sulley, and the car stunt show.
Saying Goodbye
So suddenly, we are faced with a dilemma: how do we celebrate each attraction with style one last time before we say goodbye?? Well, in true Pixie Dust Chicks form, we accessorize!
For us, that will mean ears, bows, jewelry, skirts and dresses. Isn’t this set of Monsters Inc Mike and Sulley ears by Earful Tower Designs just the cutest? Pair it up with this Monster’s University Alumni shirt by BrandByYou, a skirt and some funky blue Chucks, and we’re all set to visit our favorite residents of Monstropolis!
However you celebrate the last hurrah of your favorite attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, whether in the park or from home, we hope you have a blast. And we’d love to see your own unique style, so let us know in the comments below or tag us on Instagram so we can join in on your fun!
I’m so sad about the closures! Especially that darn Earful Tower. 😊 On to bigger and better attractions I guess. It will all be worth it in the end!
