The SciFi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is, in our opinion, a must-do for anyone visiting Walt Disney World. The theming is clearly linked to the restaurant’s title as a classic drive-in movie theater, with guests seated in twos in 50’s era convertibles. On the huge movie screen, you get to dine “under the stars” as you watch clips from old scifi flicks and retro intermission commercials. It’s totally fun! This visit: breakfast.
Previously, only lunch and dinner were served at the SciFi Dine-In, but starting this month Disney is trying out a new option at this location by serving breakfast as well.
Breakfast Time!
The menu is a fixed price affair with adults at $23.99 and children at $12.99. The first course is a plate of pastries, so during our breakfast each of us received a chocolate chocolate-chip muffin, a cinnamon roll, and a croissant. Beverages were included, so we were careful to nibble our way slowly so we didn’t fill up.
For the next course, we had a choice of a fresh fruit cup or a granola/yogurt parfait. We chose the fruit and had a tasty selection of melons, grapes, and blueberries. Mmm, there’s nothing like ripe fresh fruit to start the day.
Savory and Sweet
Especially when it’s followed by something sugary sweet! The third course was all about the entree! There was a good selection, even some steak and seafood options for those who like that sort of thing. But we’re traditionalists. What does that mean? Well, occasionally we like our breakfast to be super sweet AND filled with protein. So we chose two different dishes and shared: The Traditional Breakfast and the Brioche French Toast.
The Traditional had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, and breakfast potatoes (sort of like a hashbrown casserole). Usually, we don’t care for scrambled eggs at a restaurant mainly because the eggs are overcooked. However, these eggs were amazing!! They were soft scrambled and tasted divine. The bacon, sausage and potatoes were tasty also.
The Brioche French Toast was something else. It was as though angels gift-wrapped this unbelievably yummy french toast, filled with mascarpone cheese (like sweet cream cheese). Wow, was it sweet!
So we had the perfect combo of sweet and savory from sharing these two dishes. It was perfect! Our Castmember server offered to get us more of anything we wanted (which was also included in the price!), but we were very satisfied with the large portions they gave us so we passed. Overall, we had a great time at breakfast!
Oh, and one more plus…they take Tables in Wonderland for breakfast.
